Terms of service
These terms cover the HeliTracker iPhone app, the HeliTracker device, the subscription that runs it, and this website. By using any of them you agree to these terms. Last updated September 2, 2026.
The short version
You buy the device, you subscribe to the service that identifies flights and delivers alerts, and you own the records your device produces. Detections are best-effort estimates from sound and public flight data, not certified measurements.
The service
HeliTracker consists of a physical detection device, an iPhone app, and a cloud service operated by MNR Developers ("we"). The device is sold for a one-time price. The cloud service, which includes flight-data lookups, push alerts, storage of detection records, and the app, is provided under a monthly subscription per device. Without an active subscription the device may continue to detect sound but will not match flights, store records, or send alerts.
Accounts
You need an account to use the app. You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under your account. One account may be paired with one or more devices you own or have been authorized to view. You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app.
Subscription and billing
The service plan is arranged when you order a device and is billed by MNR Developers directly, not through the app or the App Store. It is billed monthly in advance and renews automatically until cancelled. You may cancel at any time; service continues to the end of the paid period, and no partial refunds are given for the remainder of a month. Prices may change with at least 30 days' notice. The app itself is free to download and contains no purchases.
Accuracy of detections
Detections are produced by an audio classification model and matched to aircraft using publicly available flight-tracking data. Both can be wrong. A pass may be missed, a non-helicopter sound may be logged, or a match may point to the wrong aircraft, particularly when several are nearby or one is flying without a transponder. Altitude, heading, and position come from the flight-data provider and are not verified by us. HeliTracker records are offered as information to support conversations with operators, officials, and neighbors; they are not certified measurements and are not represented as suitable for legal proceedings without independent verification.
Your data
Detection records produced by your device belong to you. You may export and share them freely. You grant us permission to store them, display them to you, access them through our administrator tools to operate and improve the service, and combine them with records from other devices to show traffic patterns across an area, including in reports and materials we publish. Aggregate reports do not name individual account holders. Our handling of personal information is described in the privacy policy.
Acceptable use
Do not use HeliTracker to harass or threaten anyone, to attempt to identify or track individual people, to interfere with aircraft operations, or to violate any law. Do not reverse engineer the service, resell access, or attempt to access other users' data.
Hardware
Devices are covered against defects in materials and workmanship for one year from delivery. Damage from weather exposure beyond the device's rating, power surges, or physical mishandling is not covered. Contact us before returning any hardware.
Availability
We aim to keep the service running continuously but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. Flight-data availability depends on third parties. We may suspend service for maintenance or to address abuse.
Limitation of liability
The service is provided as is. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of HeliTracker, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms. Sections concerning your data, accuracy, and liability survive termination.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Westchester County, New York.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; material changes will be noted in the app with the date above updated. Questions go through the contact form.
